finally!!!

nung monday being the last day of the long weekend, i decided to go to festival so i can buy gifts for mama and mommy. i woke up at 3pm and i planned tlga to bathe my dogs, lagi kseng nauudlot. natatamad ako sobra, kaya i asked mama na lang na paliguan sila polar by thursday, shempre may grooming fee un na 100php (at least si polar and cholo na un, unlike dati na tig-100 pa each dog). so ayun, i invited my cousins (yann, narlyn, kuya junjun) and ate to come with me. past 4 na kme nakaalis kse, as usual, sobrang bagal nila kumilos.

night before pa lang, i was thinking of buying them celine sandals na, gusto ko kse ung mejo ka-price ng mga binibili ko para nde nila sabihin na late na nga tinipid ko pa. hehehe. upon arriving at the mall, we headed to prp, ate wanted to buy flip flops kse for kuya junjun, unfortunately out of stock sila. kaya un, pumunta na kme sa celine where we've settled on a pair of wooden sandals with brown glittery strap for mommy and high-heeled sophisticated sandals for mama. pero, i wasn't decided yet if i'll swipe it or cash na lang kaya i asked the sales lady to reserve the 2 pairs of sandals and told them that we'll purchase 'em within the day.

after celine, we went to human para i-meet sila ate. instead of flip flops, she bought kuya a polo shirt. she asked me to try fitting human's skinny jeans, kaso nga lang nde ko feel yung style and sa iba naman eh wala akong size. the sales lady kept on persuading me to try the smaller sizes pero nasabi ko na lang na i'd be more frustrated if wala tlagang magfit sakin. huhuhu! ayoko na tlga!

kaya un, pumunta na lang kme 3/F to check out digicams. since walang fujifilm finepix z5fd ( na nabasa ko kay jays) sa mga shops, i was eyeing for the sony cybershot cams instead, basta gusto ko pink, hehe. it took us 3 shops bago kme nakahanap ng pink na sony cybershot w55, nagpicture-picture pa kme and sabi pa nun salesman eh ipiprint nya ung pictures namin basta lang bumili kame. sa 2nd shop na pinuntahan namin, ate asked the salesman on their automatic washing machines at ayun may 13K lang na sharp at 15K na whirlpool (ang catch dun is made in china lang). naku eh di lalo akong naguluhan kung anu bibilhin ko!

napagod na kme at nagutom (ako nde pako naglulunch that time) kaya niyaya ko na lang sila kumain para i'll think it over na rin habang nagdidinner kme. shempre since kasama ko si yann, ang certified debt dieter ko eh i kept on consulting her approval (mind you mas matanda ako sa kanya ha, mas matalino lang tlga tong batang to at dominante!). kumain kme sa don hen at ito ang mga inorder namin:
nachos with salsa and cheese dipsfettuccine alfredooven baked spaghetticaptain crunch and buffalo chicken

we were done by 8:15 kaya nagwithdraw na ako and derecho na kagad sa mga shops tapos eto na ang mga binili ko!!!
automatic washing machine for mama and mommy

i only added 700 bucks tapos may 1GB na memory card na ako and mini tripod. may freebies na cleaning kit and gift certificates din kse. i also bought human pouch, large enough to fit the cam, tripod and charger. nde kse practical ung price sa sony, for a single cam pouch 2500 na! and as promised by "kuya", the sony rep in the shop, naprint itong 4 pictures na to. these are just snapshots, nahirapan na ako ipost ung pix ng exact print out, bagal kse nitong pc...

instead of paying an additonal charge (250php) for delivery of the washing machine na tom. pa dapat nakasched ideliver, nagdecide na rin ako na iuwi na rin un since we can rent a van naman. also we can't wait for mama and mommy's reaction.

ABAP: Not that hot in SAP skillsets...

my daily mail from SAPSearch led me to these categories of what's hot in SAP. do i have to shift to functional or just explore XI??

another interesting topic: CERTIFICATION. functional again...

Surprising trend: Has the power of certification returned?

One thing that comes as a bit of a surprise: For the first time in years, I'm hearing firsthand stories about folks who managed to break into SAP armed only with a certification. Recently, I heard from two lucky people who have done it: one on the Financials side and one on the CRM side.

At this point, I haven't seen enough broad confirmation on this point to recommend certifications again as a way of breaking into SAP, but we can say this much: When folks with only certification are getting consulting jobs, that means the demand for SAP skills is as high as it's been in years. Just remember that it's still a "winners and losers" market and that the demand for skills is most likely focused on particular niches, most of them on the functional side of SAP. "Research before you leap" still applies.

the filipinos await --- ELECTION '07

after all the trigger-to-switch-channels-and-makes-me-swear-a-lot campaign advertisements of senatorial candidates that we've all watched, now comes the most awaited moment for the politicians --- the ELECTION '07. well honestly, i didn't register 'cause 1. i hate to get up really early and sweat like a pig in an infinite line of registration 2. how can i be so sure if my vote will be counted considering that there'll be a lot of ballot switchings, unusual brownouts and more ways of dayaan 3. what the hell, will my vote make a difference on the current status of our country? i guess not...

it's not just that i'm being cynical here, we've all watched the news --- ambush here, vote buying there, ignorant celebrities trying to make their way into the dirty world of politics. come on, do we see any good during elections? god! help the filipinos...

mother's day - wake up bebe!!!

this afternoon i was about to bathe my dogs, kaya i was hanging out sa likod ng bahay namin with mommy and mama(aunt) who have just finished doing the laundry. cholo, my 2-year old (rottweiler-askal crossbreed) dog whose very malambing and malandi eh kinukulit si mama. so i ordered him to lick her. i can't remember who mentioned it, pero sabi eh buti pa raw si mama eh may kiss from cholo because it's mother's day. hehe. well, of course, sa parinig na yun eh i greeted them na rin. i'm not the type of person kse who does emotional gestures to my family. we're not raised like that ata(?)...

kuya (& his gf) and ate (& her hubby) had already given their presents to mommy and mama. honestly, wala talaga akong regalo. last year meron, i gave them coin purses which were quite costly for a purse ha, ewan ko ba, sa japanese boutique sa glorietta ko kse nabili. so ayun, wala nga tlaga akong regalo, pero now, i've just realized na sa tuwing mother's day na nga lang pala ako makakapagregalo, kse nga wala na si daddy. :(

so i ought to do something special for them, shempre aside from the automatic washing machine project ko. i haven't decided yet, it's either i'll buy something for them or kaya treat them to a salon or spa na lang. hmmm..ok lang siguro yun kahit late na...

who's more attractive?

as for me, i love the looks of tobey maguire(31) but then i like also the bad boy appeal of james franco(29)! can't decide...yay! love 'em both!

but but but... no one beats ryan reynolds(30) in my heart and fantasies! wahehehe!

a call from taiwan

i woke up really late today, around 5ish (ung tipong malapit na magsunset) and the first thing that i did was to check my cellphone. i've got 4 missed calls from mark-- one of my close friends in college who's now working in taiwan. he left 2 years ago considering the fact that it's not that easy to find a job here that pays well. he wanted to pursue the engineering field talaga unlike me whose supposedly in the ECE field and now enjoying a demanding career in IT particularly in SAP.

mark and i stayed in touch even if he's working overseas. from time to time, we call each other para magkamustahan. once in a while, i check his friendster na sabi nya eh andun daw picture ng new girlfriend, pero wala naman!

going back, after seeing the missed calls, i sms-ed him (ayoko muna tumawag kse nga frugal mode ako ngayon dba?!?) and he phoned me right away. the usual kwentuhan and i asked him kung bakit nde natuloy ung planned uwe nya last march for her sister's graduation, un nga daw he decided to extend his contract pa. he's planning to come back this october. i was wondering why he wanted to come back pa and work here. kme nga dito na nasa pinas pa eh nagkakandaugaga nang umalis. i know he misses his family and he doesn't have any plans on living abroad talaga, pero kahit na sayang. hai, ganun din kaya ako? well, as for me, i've always dreamed of living elsewhere where i can eventually take my family to stay with me. nakakainis na dito sa pinas, especially now, election na naman at magulo.

anyway, the chat with mark left me wondering what it'll be like if i get the chance to fly abroad, live independently and work my ass off to earn dollars. what the heck, i have to deal with my birth certificate correction first, fuck!

There's food for everybody 'ika nga!

depression drives me to become a blogwhore

hopelessness just sinked in to me when i read ote's post on our previous chat. so instead of being gloomy and all, i just kept myself busy enhancing my blog layout.

i've spent a lotta time surfing the net yesterday to find a new xml layout but everytime i apply a new one, i encounter some errors (i was so tamad to download a compiler kaya i find it difficult to find the line code where the error occurs). the only codes which i found bug-free were those from final sense. i've tried this deer/woman layout but my blog looked kinda dull upon applying it. i also had a hard time thinking of what color would make a great combo with black (well aside from white, of course).

if you know any links that provides "crazy" but appealing layouts for the new blogger, puhleaseee let me know. i prefer xml codes 'cause i find it easier to modify. thanks thanks!!! :)

[ABAP must-know] GuiXT functions

QUESTION:

What is the feasible technical approach in modifying SAP standard input screens?

EXPERT RESPONSE:
Make use of GuiXT functions as referred by Sir Ric.

SOURCE: Synactive

birthday boy

kahit na:
1. ang moody at ang taray mo lately;
2. binatukan at inaway mo ko dahil niluto ko ung ground beef na para sa spaghetti mo;
3. bumili ka ng sarili mong ulam at nde mo kinain ung niluto ko na spicy garlic eggplant dahil nga sahog nun ung giniling;
4. nagdabog ka pala nung nagalit ka at muntikan masira ang sliding screen;
5. wala na akong pera at pinapalitan mo pa rin ung beef at pinapunta mo pa ako ng festival;

singapore - one of the worst cities "to visit" in the world?

source: gadling - the traveler's weblog

this is one of the most discussed surveys --- how would you react to this list?

10 Worst Cities to Visit (in no particular order)
+ Mumbai
+ Dubai
+ Liverpool & Manchester
+ Any American Suburb
+ Guatemala City
+ Sao Paolo
+ Beijing
+ Singapore
+ Milan
+ Cancun

10 Best Cities to Visit (in no particular order)
+ Florence
+ Rome
+ Bangkok
+ Sydney
+ Chiang Mai, Thailand
+ Cape Town
+ Buenos Aires
+ New York
+ Beirut*
+ San Francisco

the only good thing is that manila is nowhere to be found here --- it may not be the best but it's not one of the worst cities (or else, i would have commented na rin). hehe!

sap.nap.sap.nap.

lately, i've been coming to work like a zombie. i can hardly get 8 hours of sleep on weekdays (take the weekends as exceptions 'cause those are the days when i make bawi. hehe!).

what's worse now is that i'm getting used to taking power naps at amkor during office hours! considering that one of the company policies is to NOT allow employees to sleep in the office even on lunch times (well, kse nga our saturdays are paid and we have a compressed sched from Mon-Fri). grabe, as in pasaway na ako ngayon, sobra!
in my 2 years of tenure in acn, i see to it that i only sleep during lunch periods (which is allowable) and during overnight OTYs. well, perhaps, i have this kind of attitude now 'cause i'm not really planning to stay that long in this company and mace's doing it as well (hehe, peace man!).

pero kahit na,
this is not right and i have to be discrete pa rin. so the proper way to do is kung iidlip man ay pumuwesto ng pasimple at patago. hehehe!

who would have thought that their backbiting sessions would bring them to the top?

congratulations to eric and danielle who brought home the bacon on the amazing race all stars... they have been yielded twice but they still made it to the top!

dustin and kandice came in second while "schmirnas" were the last to arrive. boo to charla and mirna!

clean desk policy = CRAP!

when i first came here in amkor i was told that people here observe clean desk policy and i was like "ah really?". apparently, it's true and i thought "napakamasunurin naman ng mga taong to". in acn, yes we were advised about this policy thing because of the BS7799 audit, but we weren't this disciplined. we have to be reminded religiously before we even comply.

so here's the thing, i didn't give a hoot on this ek ek policy and this morning, i got this on my mail:

Subject: Q1 TPM Rates
Staff: CMEDI
Date: April 14, 2007
Rate: 96/100
Findings: empty gatorade bottle on top of the desk

what does this fucking memo have to do with me? ah yes, the gatorade was mine but what's 96? what's the impact of this 4point-demerit on me? dang it! so what if pasaway ako?! hmmmp... bwiset, kaya pala napakalinis ng desks nila, linchak na audit yan! pucha, ano to, bawas na naman sa sweldo?

Updated: ok, so i've just learned na nde naman pala bawas sa sweldo, may impact lang sa appraisal which i don't think na maaabutan ko pa here...hehe!

ABAP: must-know tips and techniques

QUESTION:

If a structure or table is not included in the exporting parameters of a user exit, is there a way to update that structure/table?

EXPERT RESPONSE:
Generally not. It means that SAP did not want you to change the data. If there is another user-exit where you get the data as import parameter, you may consider an "EXPORT to MEMORY" or better: creating two function modules like "Z_TABLE_PUT" and "Z_TABLE_GET" that transfer the table into a global variable of the function group.

the photoblog of seƱor enrique has been referred to me by yann. this has bagged the Photo Blog of the Year Award by The Philippine Blog Awards. the author is a former New Yorker who went back here in the Philippines and reinvented himself as a photojournalist. he's an impressive writer and an exceptional photographer.

araw-araw kong sakripisyo...

this is the company's meticulous attendance checker which is interfaced with our log box. we check this from time to time to ensure that every hour we spend in the office is charged to the company. i have highlighted the records of my tardiness and that would mean deductions to my salary. darn. sorry to say, but i'm the type of person who has a body clock like that of a call center agent, that's why waking up as early as 6am would always be a torture for me. aargh!

Build your APTITUDE

By Dr. John C. Maxwell

In my immature days of leadership, I used to think there was only one way to lead. Then I read a classic book by Florence Littauer called Personality Plus, and it opened my eyes to the way different temperaments and different personalities create different leadership aptitudes.

Over the years, I've identified four basic aptitudes of leadership - the directional leader, the strategic leader, the team-building leader and the operational leader. Each consists of identifiable strengths and weakness.

So the goal, it might seem, is to master all four aptitudes of leadership. In reality, however, no one person scores high on all four aptitudes. Most people are dominant in one and have a secondary strength in another. That's because the four aptitudes don't fit the same type of temperament and personality.

And since no leader possesses all four leadership aptitudes, the ultimate leadership environment consists of a leadership team. Unfortunately, the tendency among leaders is to surround themselves with others who share similar aptitudes.

This happens for three reasons:
1. Magnetism
The Law of Magnetism says we attract who we are, not who we want. The first staff member I ever hired was Stan Toler, a long-time friend of mine. We were friends even before I hired him as the only other staff person at the small church I pastored. Stan is a very successful leader in his own right, but he's just like me. Thus, we always wanted the same things.
2. Insecurity
People who are insecure typically do not like diversity. They wish everybody were like them. They want everybody to think alike, and when somebody is way out there and different, it makes them nervous.
3. Humanness
It is part of human nature that people who are just like us make us feel more comfortable. When you say, "Here's what I think" and everybody else says, "Yeah, I think that, too," you can't help but feel good. People who are different from us in their leadership aptitudes have a tendency to make us feel uncomfortable.

At INJOY, our leadership team includes directing leaders, team-building leaders, strategic leaders and operational leaders. I am in tune with and enjoy the ones who are just like me the most. But the ones who help me the most are the ones who are not like me.

Those who are unlike you in leadership aptitudes are going to make you uncomfortable, not because they're wrong and you're right and not because you're wrong and they're right, but because you're different.

acn people and resignees meet-up (part 1)

the get-together last friday with my acn friends was very enjoyable. jacque, ote and i decided to meet up at starbucks in cybergate pioneer. we talked about the latest acn buzz and jacque gave me this bag as a farewell gift. it's long overdue kase dapat nakuha ko pa to 2 weeks after i resigned from acn. actually, i was able to receive a lot of gifts from acn peeps when i left acn...some of them voluntary, ung iba napilit ko lang...hehehe...mahal talaga nila ako! :)
mandy who will be having a drinking spree with trek and arvin dropped by too. it was really funny because ote, mandy and i (the certified pasaways and resignees of acn) had an awkward moment when we bumped into ms. a and other sap execs (they look stressed out by the way). the attrition rate in SAP-CoE is continuously increasing and the apparent closeness of the acn peeps with the resignees may have added up to their agonies.

going back - when papa jays, papa dar and rhea finally arrived with their pasalubongs from mauritius, i got these!!!
beige shirt (with a mauritius map in it) from papa jays and black blouse from rhea
lovely black and red sarong from papa dar
this sarong's cloth is softer compared to those made here in the philippines
it has cute details too...
thank you madz and padz!!! love yah! :)

we have plans - a lot of them actually! :) i won't blog about it for now, baka ma-jinx..hehehe!

lastly, my birth certificate correction processing will be completed soon na daw as informed by the fixer!!!

i'm keeping my fingers crossed...

bebe's preggy?!?

luckily i was able to ride the amkor shuttle this morning. i felt so sleepy when i stepped in the bus so i headed to the nearest seat. lucky me, there's a space on the 3rd row beside the window! the lady on the aisle gave way to me and when i sat down she said "pambuntis dito", shocks!

i felt so tamad to transfer to other seat and just pretended not to care. after a few seconds, shame hit me so i made palusot and did the craziest thing! i massaged my tummy, para kunwari may baby! hahaha!

then i dozed off! haha! silly me!

antics of my bum sister

10-ish every night...yna turns on the computer while i'm busy watching the tv...

bebe: oh, i'll blog in a while ha, i drafted na my post in the office
bum yna: i will just check my email, baka there's a reply na from the singapore agent or sdv singapore...
bum yna: sino kaya to? (while checking her mail, she opens a new tab and checks her friendster)

after an hour, more tabs have been opened, endlessly shifting from one blogsite to another, changing her layouts from time to time...figuring out how she can make the widgets appear in her blog..jusmio!

bebe: oh you're blogging na, it's not yet offpeak ha? you're allowed to blog lang by midnight!

hahahahahahaha!peace ate :)

consultant? contractor? NOT me... :'(

first day after my life-changing post: my cellphone which i always use as my alarm had ran out of battery, hence i woke up late, missed the shuttle and arrived at the office 2 minutes late. golly!

this is the reason why i've been wanting to apply as a consultant. when you're a consultant, you can negotiate flexi-time and a much higher rate. even my consultant team mates here at amkor are convincing me to try it out. after some time na lang, after 6 months? hehe.

want to know more about contract work? read the following articles at monster:

$$$ money matters $$$

.:: expenses ::.
currently, i am earning just enough moolah to spend on my monthly expenditures. every cut-off i see to it that i allot a certain budget for my monthly phone and credit card bills, minimum allowance and savings. i just learned that it'll be better if i split the payments into halves (like per cutoff i pay 900 for my plan 1800). i had a bad habit before of accummulating my dues for 3 months. yikes!

.:: savings ::.

it's a good thing that i'm working now at amkor, i dont have to worry about the transpo and food since we have the shuttle and meal stubs, except na lang if i miss the shuttle or we'll have lunchouts. for now, i don't have a separate bank account for my savings. the company uses equitable atm for payroll and it also allows fund transfer to ibank. i have already asked dan to back me up in opening my bank account. poor me, i only have 1 valid id kaya dan will be of great help talaga. i really wanted to open a passbook+ atm account and that'll require me 10 grand. hala?!

.:: backpay ::.
sadly, my backpay's nowhere to be found. looks like pinagtataguan ako nung compensation team of acn ha. my friend ote who resigned last year got her back pay after 5 months pa. kainis, i'm looking forward pa man din to that cheque.

.:: note to self ::.
starting today, i'll change my life by watching my spendings.
+ no swipe for now...huhu!
+ pay the bills regularly
+ minimize utang from mama's store
+ be on time so i won't miss the shuttle
+ one viand and no dessert policy (so as the 50php/day meal stub will be enough for me - diet!)
+ minimize yosi and shampoo/conditioner (d'ya know that i can consume the largest palmolive shampoo and conditoner in just 2 weeks!!!)
+ monitor my expenses and phone usage
+ save...save...save...

.:: upcoming projects ::.
even though all of the must do's can be great tortures for me, i believe that by practicing them, my projects will soon push through! i'm excited!

1st priority: automatic washing machine for mama
2nd priority: notebook for me and yann

scattegories: it's fun but it's not that easy. promise.

pipay's back, come on people let's get loud

.:::starring: bang, oche, pipay, mhay, kate, jubs(with kahlel), pam, yen(with betot), and me :::.
bang named this as "group pix", but where the hell am i?? and yen?? hehe.

last night i had to extend a couple of hours in the office to work on an urgent request for amkor singapore. i arrived home late but just on time for dinner. actually, i was kinda lazy and was contemplating on going to the get together of my highschool tropa. one more factor is that bec was in manila and she was uncertain if she'll come to the reunion. was hoping na sumama na rin sha so i kept on sms-ing and persuading her.

it was around 11pm when kate called me up while they were on their way to 7-11 to buy some drinks and chicha. after some convincing by kate, i decided to go na rin. jubs, kate, mhay, yen(taba!) and betot (yen's bf) picked me up and we stopped by at andok's to buy pulutan. jubs kept on chanting that yen and i have to buy something as contribution. haha! shempre that's the tradition, pot luck. kaya i raced with mayen in paying for the roasted chicken because ice cream is more costly. :) hehe! sorry yen, need to save some cash!

when we arrived at pam's place, bang is on her gig entitled "the best of sheva". hehe! and pipay! she gained a few pounds i guess, pero she looks gorgeous pa rin. there were lots of foodies. i didn't take pictures but bang did, as always :). she'll post them on her lj soon. :)

kate brought the pasta (baked by ron, her sister), the yummy krispy kreme (dunno who bought that), drinks like smirnoff, vodka cruise and mudshake, andok's chicken courtesy of me and double dutch ice cream bought by yen.

all throughout the night, we catched up with each other's lives, showbiz buzz, colegioers stories and of course a lot of singing, dancing, reminiscing and bullying. pam being the tropa's bitch(as in dog), mhay, pipay and yen as the oldies in the group. hehe.

oche and i had a long chat too, she's moving to oman come august. she loves her job at mandarin hotel but she's having a hard time dealing with her colleagues. i can't believe that her working environment is that bad. but i know oche deserves better opportunities, she really is a very good banquet events coordinator. kaya go oche!

all in all, we really had a blast! it was really fun and it was worth missing the final elimination round of amazing race all stars.
stolen shot kuno!

attention: bec, since you weren't there, you gotta read and comment on this post! :)

im sooo loving SAP

i have received a mail from SAPSearch informing me that another podcast has been uploaded in their portal. in this podcast, david foote talks about SAP jobs being hot in the IT market --- present and future. interested? download it here.

another mail came from andrew witzenfeld. andrew who? hehe. well he's promoting the SimpySAP.com website. he mentioned that someone had forwarded my email add to him and suggested to inform me regarding their portal. who's that someone? or did they just get my contact details from monster? devbistro? SAPSearch? SAPfans? hehe.
he also asked me to recommend this site to my colleagues and friends. oh well, why not blog about it? :) so i'm pasting his email in this entry.

calling all of my SAP and ABAP friends, colleagues and strangers, please spare some time to read andrew's mail. i think highly that SimplySAP.com is another venue for us to post our CVs and be recognized by the world's leading SAP recruiters and MNCs.

Hi Christian,

Your email address was forwarded on to me and it was recommended that I get in touch with you to tell you about our SAP website.

SimplySAP.com has managed to establish itself as a leading SAP job board and we currently host some of the most exciting positions in the SAP market from the worlds leading SAP recruitment agencies and companies. The site has live and updated jobs across located across the globe, both permanent and contract, and it also offers candidates the added benefit of being able to search for jobs by solution, position, industry and location as well as by keyword.

If you can’t find the job that you’re looking for on the site it is worth considering that many of the top jobs do not ever get advertised on job boards; instead recruiters search databases like ours for the right candidates to fill their roles. If you want to be included in these searches then all you have to do is create a profile (http://www.simplysap.com/register/candidate.htm); it takes less than 90 seconds to do so and remember to upload your CV (in any language) to be included in the 1000s of candidate searches that take place on our site every week. Alternatively simply send me a current version of your resume, your ideal position and solution and your contact details and I can do all the work for you. ( Is he serious??)

We are constantly looking to increase our database with more skilled SAP professionals such as yourself, if you are able to recommend any of your friends or colleagues to the site it would be very much appreciated.

I hope you receive this well and I hope you sign up to receive the benefits of our new specialist SAP recruitment portal.

Kind Regards
