Doodling Increases Focus and Recall [Mind Hacks]

It turns out that your daydreaming doodles of infinite awesomeness not only help with long meetings, but can also help you remember what goes on during the meeting.

In a study, scientists asked subjects to recall what they'd just heard in recordings—with some having doodled throughout, others not. The doodlers demonstrated significantly higher recall than the non-doodlers.

"People may doodle as a strategy to help themselves concentrate," said study co-author Jackie Andrade, a University of Plymouth psychologist. "We might not be aware that we're doing it, but it could be a trick that people develop because it helps them from wandering off into a daydream."

How does it work? The scientists hypothesize the mental load it takes to absentmindedly draw is significantly smaller than the demands of a full-on fantasy, which leads your mind entirely away from the event you're supposed to be engaged in. That trickle of attention devoted to doodling appears to keep you focused in the present time, while giving you a release valve from a frustratingly over-long group session.

It should be noted that the doodling test subjects were doing some light doodling, like shading in boxes. So while abstract or simple shapes might be okay for your focus, try to scale it back if you find yourself crafting elaborate panoramas of medieval battle fields and epic space operas. Then again, your inspired re-imagining of the Sistine Chapel during the report on last quarter's profits per share might suggest a larger career assessment is in order.

i'm using this desktop now dahil nakita ko na gamit to ng isa sa mga nagpost sa ADIML. at least mejo magiging familiar ako sa geography. i remember when mish told me na gusto nya pumunta ng Cambodia eh naisip ko na nasa South America un. harhar! i know shungak ako talaga most of the time. anyway, hinahanap ko ang Mauritius at Belgium, nde ko makita! sabi ko na nga ba, nasa Pluto ako eh. =P

nun nagbakasyon ako sa pinas, ang body clock ko eh MU time which is 3 hours late. ngayon naman na nakabalik na ako dito ulet eh ang body clock ko naman eh CET time which is 4 hours late.

2pm: good morning sunshine!
5pm: ngayon pa lang ako maglulunch!

ang conclusion? normal na sakin ang pagiging late, ACN Manila days pa lang! siguro mas magiging on time ako kung naging call center agent ako, feeling ko kase panggabi akong tao. un lang, share ko lang. =P

Shut Down!

my current project will be shutting down sooner than expected. not just offshore but also onshore. nagpapanic na daw ang mga tao onshore lalo na ang mga freelance guys. ang recession nga naman. on the other hand, eh may proposal na ginagawa ang mga execs, that is to bring the functional scope offshore. goodluck na lang at sana ma-approve dahil pag na-approve eh makakawork ko ulet ang fave lead ko. anyway, dahil nga sa recession eh mukhang pag nagresign ka sa panahon ngayon eh nde mo na kelangan magbigay ng 3 months notice, ibigay mo lang daw ang RL eh free to go ka na at bayad pa ang 3 months mo. applicable kaya sa akin un? hmmmm. meron pa rin naman akong narereceive na emails from SG recruiters pero madalang na, nde katulad dati. so siguro sa ngayon eh steady muna ako. dahil sa low workload eh naiisip ko tuloy magbakasyon ulet. hehehe.

should i go and take the certification program or not? ang kaso eh since the center will be paying for it and they said that they don't want to link the certification with my decision if i will extend my contract or not, eh kahit papano eh nakakaguilty rin naman kung magsign up ako tapos in the end eh iwan ko rin sila. hai lord, gimme some sign.

on living independently

it has been more than a year now that i've been living alone and away from home. nung college ako, i've always dreamt of having my own pad and matry maging independent. oh well, based on my experience eh nde naman mahirap. manageable naman sha pero there will be times na nakakaloka. it would have been easier siguro kung nasa pinas tapos makakauwe pa rin ako during weekends and i would still be able to hang out with my friends. pero atleast, i get to experience this and nakaya ko naman.

actually may pros and cons eh, eto:

1. kahit ano gustong mong gawin, magagawa mo. hahaha, example (example lang!) maglumandi ako. hahaha.
2. sa household chores eh ako ang bahala, meaning kung kelan ako nasa mood mag-general cleaning, magluto ng cravings ko, etc.
3. sa pagbubudget ako ang bahala, kung nagtitipid ako eh pede ko isabay sa diet mode. kung maluho naman ako eh kelangan ko lang i-make sure na within sa budget.
4. walang sermon/nagging. (luv u mama and mommy!)
5. marami pang iba.

cons naman eh...

1. pag maysakit ako eh no choice kundi gamutin ang sarili at umiyak. just like now, un open wound ko needs packing everyday, talaga namang napakahirap. kaliligo ko lang tapos after packing pawis na ako kagad. packing nga pala means dressing open wounds. nde ko na idedescribe kse gross at ang sakit isipin.
2. nakaka-autistic, diba papa jays? sobrang sagana ka sa alone time.
3. dahil sa mag-isa ako eh lagi akong tamad, there are some weekends na talagang walang labasan ng bahay. so kaya kinukulit ako ng mga colleagues ko na wala akong social life. oh well, siguro andito ako sa Mauritius. pero if i were in other place na may night life at maagang nagsasara ang mga establishments eh nde ako magmumukmok sa bahay.
4. mahirap magluto nang para lang sa isang tao. pagkain ko buong week na un pag nagluto ako, ako pa man din ang tipong maramihan magluto kse mas gusto ko ung may ibang kakain ng niluto ko.

with this experience, sa palagay ko kaya ko pa rin talaga kahit maulet to, wag lang dito sa lugar na to. iba naman, sa 4-season country naman. hehehehe.

anyway, ngayon nga pala na partially handicap ako eh wala akong ginagawa kundi dumapa at tumayo sa bahay. at this point, mas madali sana kung may kasama ako pero i have no choice. all the while akala ko healthy ako, nde pala.

everything has to be within reach. hehehe!
ang bestfriends ko for 2-3 months. hail. :(

based sa mga nipost ko na events sa calendar ko eh i'm supposed to fly back to Asia by tomorrow pero dahil sa series of unfortunate events eh i will be stuck in this island 1 week longer.

unfortunate event no. 1: i got sick this week which is supposedly my last week for LV SAP Project and last week rin before my vacation. it ended-up to be a week-long sick leave.

unfortunate event no. 2: i had to undergo a surgery na minor lang daw. but they had to put me on general anaesthesia. first time kong ma-admit sa ospital - traumatic.

unfortunate event no. 3: i have no health insurance pala and the operation costed like i delivered a baby. part of my xmas shopping budget un. huhuhuhu.

unfortunate event no. 4: my itinerary remained waitlisted, isa lang ang confirmed.

unfortunate event no. 5: nde daw ako pede umalis hanggat wala un new work permit ko. kaya instead of tom. eh dec. 13 ang alis ko sa isla na to.

unfortunate event no. 6: mabubulok ako dito sa bahay ng 1 week para tumayo at dumapa maghapon. nagshoshopping na sana ako sa SG by that time.

okay apart from these unfortunate events eh nakakatuwa rin naman because i knew that a lot of people cared for me. family back home, ex-acn friends, MIDC friends and even onshore counterparts. :) i feel loved. :)

they brought some food din dahil aware sila na wala na akong stock. hahaha.

Pronounced as "stay"tus or "sta"tus?

All of the people here pronounce it as "stay"tus and I'm the only one pronouncing it as "sta"tus. Sometimes I even pronounce it both ways. Hahaha! I will say "sta"tus then say "stay"tus so they will get it.

last getaway before coming home for xmas

after a year here in the island, ngayon lang ako makakapunta sa North kung saan may night life "daw". we won the final award for the L'Envol CMMi initiative so we got the prize of spending a weekend at Maritim Hotel.

i am in charge of bringing the booze. BI talaga ako, hehehe, so dadalhin ko na lang un vodka na regalo ng landlord ko. si Nitin naman daw ang magdadala ng beer and wine.

there will be moslems too in the group so definitely eh nde naman lashengan session to. anyway, im looking forward sa water sports activities. :)

summer na summer na dito pero mas feel ko pa rin ang weather sa pinas na mejo malamig which brings the spirit of xmas!

babalik na ako ng InBev right after ng roll-off ko from LV sa dec. 5. approved na ni boss Christophe at sa sobrang tuwa nya eh nagcommit na sha until march.

namiss kita sobra! dahil sa umuwe na un 2 naonshore na pinoy eh binigay nila sakin un nde nila nagamit na sinigang mix. ang balak ko eh last grocery ko na nun bumili ako ng pangcaldereta dahil uubusin ko na lang sana un oatmeal ko til 1st week of december. pero nde ako makatiis na pumunta sa way para bumili ng baboy. hehehe.

itago natin sha sa pangalang Batman (kse lagi shang may Robin on his side). sha ang french onshore coordinator na nakawork ko sa 2 projects na naworkan ko dito sa MIDC.

i used to hate him dahil:

1. marami akong mishaps na napupuna nya, nde naman sa deliveries pero sa communication churva with the business and non-ACN colleagues and the like. ang core values ng ACN eh isinasapuso nya.
2. intimidated at takot ako sa kanya
3. madame shang sharp and smart comments na minsan eh nakakabwiset
4. minsan eh nibabypass nya ang leads at dumederecho sa developers and you have no choice but to say yes. there was one time na dumerecho sha sakin:

batman: xianne, this is quite urgent. can you and vitish work over the weekend to be able to finish this by monday?
xianne: euh, let me check. i will ask vitish too.
.....
xianne: euh batman, we have a wedding to attend on saturday.
batman: so?

i've always imagined him looking like bin laden dahil nga sabi nila eh may Iranian features sha. so nun pagpunta ko sa Belgium eh i was shocked to see na para lang shang college student. totoy na totoy pero intimidating pa rin.

anyway, after a while we got along naman. ngayon eh friends na kame sa MSN at facebook tapos may smileys na ang chats namin. hehehe. and we are still working on the same project.

so un nga, nakakatuwa lang kse binigyan nya ako ng celebratingperformance pogi points and here's his comment.

option a is with friends but not really your very close friends.

last week naggeneral cleaning ako ng bahay, while this week eh un files ko naman ang ni-general cleaning ko. 2 of my officemates were the ones who helped me configure Azerty (ayan may pangalan na un laptop ko, hehe) last June, and since then i did not find the time to personalize the look of my baby. mashado kse ako nawili magsurf at magdownload ng kung anu ano online. hehehe. thanks nga pala to fadil and nasif who installed all the stuff that will be useful. dahil sa shunga ako sa mga ganyan eh i was really grateful sa kanila, nasif even installed windows vista, ms office 2007 and symantec. so iiyak talaga ako kung kakailanganin ireformat ang laptop na to. hehehe.

so anu mga ginawa ko, in-unistall ko lahat ng nde gumagana for vista. niback up ko lahat ng utilities for installation pati un mga cracked na vista, symantec and ms office 2007. all in all, inayos ko lahat ng files. nagcleanup at defrag ako afterwards.

naginstall na ako ng new itunes at dahil marame na akong mp3s na nadownload at un lang naman ang mga pinapakinggan ko eh binura ko na un lahat ng luma. nirestore ko pati ipod ko at inayos lahat ng albums to make sure na may artwork lahat. oo, hehehe, OC ako.
nagregister na rin ako sa club VAIO. wala lang. feel ko lang. hehehe. saka may esupport so okay na rin.
at lastly eh nipersonalize ko na un lahat lahat.
all in all eh i did something productive over the weekend. french lessons, babalikan kita this coming week. hehehe.

When I was a puppy I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, I became your best friend. Whenever I was "bad," you'd shake your finger at me and ask "How could you?" - but then you'd relent and roll me over for a bellyrub.

My housetraining took a little longer than expected, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. I remember those nights of nuzzling you in bed, listening to your confidences and secret dreams, and I believed that life could not be any more perfect. We went for long walks and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only got the cone because "ice cream is bad for dogs," you said), and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day.

Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on your career, and more time searching for a human mate. I waited for you patiently, comforted you through heartbreaks and disappointments, never chided you about bad decisions, and romped with glee at your homecomings, and when you fell in love.

She, now your wife, is not a "dog person" - still I welcomed her into our home, tried to show her affection, and obeyed her. I was happy because you were happy. Then the human babies came along and I shared your excitement. I was fascinated by their pinkness, how they smelled, and I wanted to mother them, too. I would sneak into their beds and listen to their worries and secret dreams. Together we waited for the sound of your car in the driveway. There had been a time, when others asked you if you had a dog, that you produced a photo of me from your wallet and told them stories about me. These past few years, you just answered "yes" and changed the subject. I had gone from being "your dog" to "just a dog," and you resented every expenditure on my behalf.

Now you have a new career opportunity in another city, and you and they will be moving to an apartment that does not allow pets. You've made the right decision for your "family," but there was a time when I was your only family.

I was excited about the car ride until we arrived at the animal shelter. It smelled of dogs and cats, of fear, of hopelessness. You filled out the paperwork and said "I know you will find a good home for her." They shrugged and gave you a pained look. They understand the realities facing a middle-aged dog or cat, even one with "papers." You had to pry your son's fingers loose from my collar as he screamed "No, Daddy! They are as attentive to us here in the shelter as their busy schedules allow. They feed us, of course, but I lost my appetite days ago. When I realized I could not compete with the frolicking for attention of happy puppies, oblivious to their own fate, I retreated to a far corner and waited.

I heard her footsteps as she came for me at the end of the day and I padded along the aisle after her to a separate room. A blissfully quiet room. She placed me on the table, rubbed my ears and told me not to worry. My heart pounded in anticipation of what was to come, but there was also a sense of relief. The prisoner of love had run out of days. As is my nature, I was more concerned about her. The burden which she bears weighs heavily on her and I know that, the same way I knew your every mood.

She gently placed a tourniquet around my foreleg as a tear ran down her cheek. I licked her hand in the same way I used to comfort you so many years ago. She expertly slid the hypodermic needle into my vein. As I felt the sting and the cool liquid coursing through my body, I lay down sleepily, looked into her kind eyes and murmured "How could you?"

Perhaps because she understood my dogspeak, she said "I'm so sorry." She hugged me and hurriedly explained it was her job to make sure I went to a better place, where I wouldn't be ignored or abused or abandoned, or have to fend for myself - a place of love and light so very different from this earthly place. With my last bit of energy, I tried to convey to her with a thump of my tail that my "How could you?" was not meant for her. It was you, My Beloved Master, I was thinking of. I will think of you and wait for you forever.

sabi ko sa sarili ko since it's not worth staying in the office ng long hours dahil nga sa masaklap na increase (teka increase ba talaga un?!) eh dapat 5pm sharp nasa bus stop na ako. nagawa ko un yesterday at nagawa kong makapag-inquire sa gym. pero ngayon eh nagstay na naman ako til 9 sa office. :( ewan ko ba, parang nakapako ako sa desk ko.

anyway, nde ganun kadami workload ko ngayon pero pasulpot sulpot kse ang mga issues na nde ko matanggihan - investigation, follow up ng urgent issues at iba pa. pero un nga ang dami kong pinaplano na nde ko magawa:

1. Mag-catch up sa French 101 lessons ko
~ 2 french books ang binili ko with mp3s at ako ay stuck sa "DIXIÈME LEÇON". goodluck! nde ko pinipilit sarili ko kung wala ako sa mood, otherwise eh mabe-brain drain lang ako, hehehe!

2. Magsimulang mag-gym
~ Nagtanong un coach kung kelan ko balak magsimula, sabi ko eh next week! kelangan kong maging motivated bago ako magregister, otherwise sayang ang pera. Saka kelangan kong magpromise sa sarili ko na uuwe ako ng maaga para makapaggym at nde mapako sa desk ko until 9pm. Saka may tortang talong at yosi pa ako dito sa bahay, hahahaha! ubusin ko muna bago ako magenroll. Dapat pag nagsimula ako eh minimal na ang kain esp. tortang talong at ang yosi. Hai. kelangan ko ng motivation. Meron na akong naisip pero nde ganun kaconvincing para sa sakin:
a. In prep para sa paghuhunt ko ng hot male Aussie surfer. hihihihi!
b. Para paguwe ko ng pinas by December eh sexy na talaga ako. hehehe.

Tulungan nyo akong magisip ng mas convincing na reason! Encouraging enough to give up ang pagyoyosi at tortang talong. bwahahahaha! seryoso, tulong! ;)))

3. Itigil na ang OTY
~ Kahit mababa ang increase ko eh nde ko matiis na nde magreply sa walang katapusang emails ng functionals ko. Mashado kse akong mabait!

4. Magsimula nang magplano para sa panibagong adventure sa aking career
~ Andami nang pending, si Mish nagsimula na. Binasa ko na rin un PDFs pero napakahaba at bawat section eh may nirerefer na link. naloloka na ako pero excited na din ako.

5. Magupdate ng online CVs
~ Natatakot ako na baka pag nagsimula ako eh darating na ang mga temptations na yan, hehehe. Kailangan eh pag-isipan ng mabuti.

6. Magpadala ng pera sa pinas
~ Nakapako nga ako sa desk ko maghapon. Pero kailangan ko magmoney transfer soon nang mapadalhan ang aking mother dear ng pera.

Bottomline eh feeling ko wala akong time gawin ang lahat ng eto.

- sunday morning maglilibot sa Flic en Flac. magkakaroon na naman ako ng album for Flic en Flac, 3rd version na. hahaha.

so nakabalik na ako at busy mode ulet. eto nga pala ang kinalabasan nang sobrang pamimili ko sa Belgium. i had 5 bags to carry - 1 big luggage + 1 smaller luggage + 2 laptop bags + 1 heavy canvas bag. nicheck in ko ung 2 luggages dahil pagbaba pa lang nang taxi eh nde ko na kinayang maglakad sa train station para pumunta sa air france office. nakakahiya, nadulas pa ako sa sobrang dami ng dala ko. nicheck in ko un excess baggage ko sa AF office sa Brussels Midi train station at umabot ng 22kgs. akala ko okay na, pero pagdating sa Paris CDG airport eh hinarang nila ulet ako dahil bawal daw na may 3 handbags. so kinailangan kong icheck in un canvas bag. buti this time eh nde na nila ako pinagbayad. sa sobrang hassle, pagkatapos ko sa immigration eh i was just in time for boarding na wala na akong time to recuperate the VAT ng mga binili ko sa Europe.

on a lighter note, eh pagdating sa Mauritius airport eh nakapuslit ako sa "Nothing to Declare" lane. hehehe. so nde ko kinailangang magbayad sa customs sa lahat ng nishopping ko. hehehe. at ang pinakaimportante eh naiuwi ko naman ng maayos ang lahat ng pinamili ko.

naset-up na rin ng aking boys ang laptop at ipod. sa lahat ng techy stuff na wala akong kaalam alam, charms lang ang kelangan. hehehe. isa na lang kulang, internet connection! after that eh im online for good at ready na to take the part time job.

last day @ inbev office and last shopping with papable!

pag pasok ko sa office eh napakasunny, kumusta naman pero todo boots ako. hahahaha! btw, eto nga pala ang sinuot ko as suggested by madz. ;)

as usual upon arriving in the office eh pinuntahan ako ni papable sa room ko to confirm that we have to leave early dahil uulan daw in the afternoon. at eto pa ang remark nya, "good that you're wearing your comfortable shoes". hahaha! obvious talaga na i'm ready to go shopping. walang makakapigil sa plano ko, kahit pa umuulan which is "the famous belgium weather". we left the office at 11:45am at kelangan pa namin dumaan sa ibang route so as not pass by the meeting room kung nasaan ang boss nya. hahahaha.

5-minute walking distance lang ang shops from the office which made it more convenient. first stop eh watch! gusto ko gayahin si juday kaya gusto ko ng guy's watch. yun nga lang wala akong ryan agoncillo na may kamatch. hahahaha! as suggested by papable, na diesel fanatic, eh diesel na lang daw ang bilhin ko. ate wala akong nakitang tag heuer. i was eyeing for the D&G pero since nde ko naman weakness ang relo eh i settled na lang for the diesel one and i lurve it!!!! papable says it looks nice. :)
mot iuuwi ko tong carton na to. hahaha. synthetic leather sha.
guy's watch sha pero may touch of pink pa rin. hahaha. and it's not so big.
on me! :)

next stop eh mobile store. i was telling him that i want the Samsung U900 Soul tapos ang lolo mo started converting to philippine peso. he said, "you have an ipod touch already, you bring your camera everytime, you also have your Blackberry, all you need is a simple phone!" errrm, yann/mommy ikaw ba yan? oh well may point naman sha kaya i settled na lang for a girly fliptop phone. of course, sony ericsson pa rin. he liked the color, atleast not in pink this time. hahaha!

last store eh computer shop. i had to buy some accessories for my laptop. :) the hard drive comes in pink pero hanggang 160gb lang. he couldn't help but roll his eyes when i reach for something that's pink. the price of 160gb is not much different with that of 250gb so this time eh kinuha nya un 160gb pink sakin at pinalitan ng 250gb in black. okay sometimes kelangan kong tanggalin sa selection criteria ang kulay. hahaha.

i bought the security cable then 'cause i will be leaving my laptop at home sa mauritius. mas maigi na na nakacable sha sa malaking lamesa. hahahaha. and of course earphones with mic para makapagvoice chat na ako with friends and family. :)
so un, we finished at 12:45pm, oh diba in 1 hour ambilis ko makapili! hahaha. oh well i have to, i cannot afford a day's salary ng freelance para masamahan nya ako to shop. hahaha. on the way, bumili na lang kame ng sandwich then we're back in the office at 1pm.

at around 2pm eh bumalik na naman sha sa office ko dahil may solution daw sha sa luggage problem ko. hahaha. humanap daw ako ng 3-4 guys on the same flight at gamitin ko daw ang charms ko to ask them that we check in together. kumusta naman un?! hahaha. pakapalan na ng mukha talaga. hahaha.

at 3:30pm eh bumalik na naman sha he's quite worried on how i will take the train tom. with all my luggage. if only his boss had left for france today, he said he would have taken a day off so he can drive me to Paris and ... arrive there in style! ang angas talaga ng lolo mo kaya napakalamig dito eh. of course nakakahiya naman, i said it's enough that he had been my personal assistant during my 2 shopping sprees. hahaha. may naging tagabuhat ako ng mga shopping bags. hahahaha!

at 4:30pm eh boss christophe had left. we said our goodbyes at shempre may hug. then i started packing my things na rin. i pinged papable that i'm leaving in a few minutes and he came rushing to my office saying "you're actually gonna leave without saying goodbye to me??!". hahaha. todo complain ang lolo mo then he invited me for one last smoke. this time eh nagyosi sha for me. =)

after yosi break eh i stayed for a couple of minutes to send some emails. then before i shut down my laptop eh i pinged him that i'm leaving na talaga. of course bumalik ulet sha sa room ko to finally say goodbye. nakakatuwa 'cause he even offered to walk me to my hotel pero i declined. nakakahiya naman. hehehe.

so un, i'm really sad to leave dahil i like it here, people are very nice and chivalry exists here infairness! at maiiwan ko si papa rouslan. huhuhu. hahaha. si papable nde ko mashado mamimiss yan dahil araw araw naman akong tinatawagan nyan. ang pinagkaiba lang eh dito naguusap kame in person. kaso wala na akong PA sa pagshoshopping. :( hahaha.

p.s. he said the best gift that he had received on his birthday was the one which came from me, he likes it better than those that he had bought and he wears it everyday. =)

i didn't know na sa Romania pala nag-originate ang dracula at witches. tama ba? hehehe. anyway, pero eto ang mga famous souveneirs doon eh.

nagbabasa ako kung panu magcheck in online. most likely excess baggage na ako. sabi ang baggage daw eh nde dapat magexceed ng 32kg. so kung mag-eexceed ako ng 32kg eh kelangan ko magbawas at muhang kelangan ko na rin icheck in un maliit na suitcase.

bago ko problemahin yan pagchecheckin eh kelangan ko muna magcheck out dito sa novotel at lumipat ulet ng hotel for one night. habang nagpapack ako eh narealize ko na napakadame kong dadalhin pauwe. bawat klase ng gamit eh 4 or more ang dala ko. goodluck sa akin.

kelan lang ako nakakapagpicture ng food. kse ako sa mga kasama ko dito. sa pinas lang maraming camwhore. hehehe. so lately eh sinusulit ko ang stay ko dito at i was trying un iba't ibang restos dito. promise, kahit walang kanin dito eh tataba ako dahil sa laki ng servings!

Weekend Eurotrip

so ayun, maximized na maximized ang first weekend ko. saturday i checked out of Novotel then met up with the other guys at Binnenhof. wala pang noon non since it was around 10 kaya iniwan ko muna gamit ko sa room ni Yasmine. we left the hotel at 10:20 to meet up with Lucasz, master data central team, who would tour us around Brussels. ambait nya at nilibre pa kame ng lunch, un nga lang french lang ata ang alam nya so most of the conversations were in french. oh well sanay na ako. after nya kame itour en iniwan na nya kame dahil magshoshopping pa kame. we parted ways at around 3pm tapos nagsimula na kame magshopping til 8pm.

pagbalik sa hotel eh nagcheck-in na ako tapos nagpictures ng mga nabili ko. natulog ako at around 12pm tapos gumising ng 6am dahil pupunta kame ng Amsterdam. nagtrain kame from Leuven to Brussels tapos Brussels to Amsterdam. nag-ikot sa red district at nagshopping ng gamit and souveneirs. at around 5pm eh we decided to catch the train back to Brussels para naman may mapuntahan pa kameng iba. we ended up at Rotterdam kung saan sarado na lahat ng shops by 7pm pero maliwanag pa ha. so picture taking at nagdinner lang kame dun. reached Leuven at 12 midnight tapos kinuha ko un gamit ko to check in back again here at Novotel. sobrang nakakapagod pero sinulit ko un travel time sa train na natulog ako. ngayon eh im posting the pics. watch out na lang kau mabilis naman ang LAN connection dito, hehehe.

ang hirap magcheck-in check out ng hotel. twice ko tong gagawin dito sa 3-week stay ko. nagcheck out ako nun saturday sa novotel before we went to Brussels. pero perfect timing ang check-out dahil we planned to go to Amsterdam kahapon. so sa Binnenhof hotel ako nagstay for the night, un standard room lang ang available pero cozy naman sha at katapat ng prison. hahaha. maganda naman ang view dahil nasa Leuven center ang location.

eto sha, maliit lang pero one night lang naman at since 11 na kame nakauwe eh 7 hours lang ako nagstay dito.
single bed + acn laptop, na kay papable pa rin un laptop ko dahil ayoko iwan sa hotel.
study table, smoking room opkors.
madilim na kaya nde ako makapagpicture sa labas.

tapos sa wakas ngayon eh balik ako sa novotel. 11:30 na ng gabi ako nakapagcheck-in, kakapagod.
sa Binnenhof parang haunted at de-susi dito modern at mas higit na mas maganda dahil may free LAN. hahaha.

nde na rin ako nag-effort ihanger at ayusin ang gamit ko. napakahirap kaya, 8 days ako dito tapos check out tapos check in the next day. goodluck to me. true nomad nga ako.

okay so today eh first time ko maglakad mag-isa sa leuven at guess what naligaw ako. hahaha.kumusta naman, kung san ako napadpad pero at least eh nakarating ako sa center. i took the long way. pero sa ngayon eh mejo alam ko na. wish me luck sa mga following days dahil mag-isa na lang ako. hahahaha.

at eto pa pala sa paglalakad ko eh may huminto pa na caru asking me if i need a lift, anu bers?! hello nde ako tanga para sumama sau.

anyway, i'm plannig to buy a camera here so i told christophe and papable. given ang specs na bigay ni madz eh nagsurf si papable over the net.at ung camera lang eh nasa 600 EUR na. it's crazy daw if i buy that. the problem is that nde ko marealize ang value ng euros talaga. naninibago ako sa currencies pag pabago bago. sabi ko din i wanted to buy a phone, so si boss christophe at papable eh nagshow off ng PDAs and phones nila. at etong si papable eh started videoing me. camera shy kaya ako. hahaha. or he just wants to remember kung anu ang itsura ko. hahaha, feelingera. at eto pa pala, i was asking him for a certain url over MSN, pede naman ipop pero talagang pinuntahan pa ako. hahaha. okay tama na nagfeefeeling na ako. okay last na, kelangan kong magbook ng hotel kaya sinabi ko kay boss christophe, nagkataon eh andun si papable and he said, "actually, my flatmate has moved out so i have a spare room, if you want". hahaha. so ako naman eh hanggang tawa lang. si boss christophe naman eh nailang. mas nailang pa sha sakin. baliktad ata. siguro he thinks i would be offended or something, kuya keri lang un. no comment sha, so ako naman tingin kay papable at napansin namin pareho na awkward moment so he added "50 EUR per night would be enough", sinakyan ko na lang ng "with invoice and all? hahahaha." kame lang ang nagkaintindihan at ang boss ko eh nagmukhang worried. don't worry boss, i'm a big girl at walang malisha sakin. hahahahaha. anyway, un nga nakakatawa lang. si papable pala eh nagquit na magyosi, kung kelan dumating ako dito, nice timing.

bukas nga pala eh magshoshopping ako sa Brussels with my other teammates. :) ang clothing at weekend allowances ay susulitin. tapos sa sunday eh punta kame sa red light district, sa Amsterdam at hahanap ako ng gigolo. hahahaha. nabanggit ko nga pala un kay papable tapos sabi nya, fine daw i don't wanna go with him daw, if i were to go with him daw eh makakasakay pa ako sa luxury car. eh hello??? niyaya mo na ba ako? nde pa kaya kuya! nde naman makapal ko na kaladkarin ka. hehehehehe. anyway, im excited for this weekend na. susulitin ko na stay ko dito as advised by papa jays.

supposedly i am to meet ms. A pero since this will be the last weekend ng teammates ko eh i prefer to go with them. so i rescheduled my plans with ms. A for next week na lang. next weekend pala eh last weekend ko na rin, ambilis naman ng 20 days. hehehe.

okay naman pala itsura nya eh, bad timing lang that time dahil stressed out at wala shang tulog nun monday. kaso nakakalungkot we have nothing to work on together, now that i'm here pa naman. and i'm working for SC stream na mga sobrang demanding at pushy. i miss working on CM. huhuhu. naibigay na pala nya sakin un ipod ko, abangan ang post ko.

anyway, yesterday nde kame nagusap. linchak wala akong connection the whole day. bwiset talaga. pero nagkita naman kame sa corridors, hanggang winks and smiles lang.

pero the other day he went out sa smkoing area kahit tapos na sha magsmoke. naituro nya na rin ang caru nya sakin. maganda pero nde ko matitigan, malayo eh. tapos pumunta rin sha sa office ko nun may functional question ako, oh diba pinuntahan talaga ako. caring lang talaga ang lolo mo. kinamusta nya ako kung anu tingin ko sa place. sabi ko i should start shopping for shoes nde uubra heels ko dito. hehehe.

okay exagg un title. hahaha. pero eto ang updates ng eurotrip ko. bulleted na lang okay para classic...

- successful ang objective ko to pack just enough, not necessarily light. hahaha! 19.5kg, in fairness kinaya kong magbawas. hehehe. so thanks sa mga nagbigay ng tips! mwah!

- sa duty free pa lang eh nasa shopping mood na ako, i bought a wallet kse anlalaki ng euro bills tapos laspag na ang elle paris ko. bumili rin ako ng yosi at chocolates stock.
- cutie no? pag niconvert ko parang pinas price din ata.

- i was asleep during the entire flight. namalayan kong ginigising ako ng cabin crew for dinner, pero keber, nde talaga kinaya. wala akong tulog nun friday since i had to back up my files and pack tapos support kinabukasan.

- pagdating sa paris eh okay lang, sabi ko sa air france nun nagcheck in ako eh automatically icheck in ang luggage ko sa train pero nde pala possible un. so kailangan talaga lakarin from airport station to train station. so eto ang route, mejo mahaba. oh diba parang SM Makati lang, nothing extraordinary!
- tapos nun nagaantay ako ng train eh may nagtanong sakin na french cutie to fill out a survey. ang survey eh regarding sa plan to make the check in of luggages from airport to train available. dun ko naconfirm na nde pala talaga pwede un for now.

- hanggang sa train eh nakatulog. san ka pa! todo tulog talaga ang lola nyo.nagpicture ako ng konti lang. tamad na tamad ako eh. sana pala eh lumabas ako ng airport kaso may luggage kse ako at nde ko pede icheck in sa train station ng maaga.
- oh diba parang nasa bulacan ka lang? bwahahahahahaha!

- pagdating sa train station eh i was looking for a signboard ng pangalan ko. nde pala uso un dito. so i called nasif and told him, i'll take a cab na lang. 88EUR ang pamasahe. ang mahal!

- un hotel eh maganda naman. at eto may free internet pa. may wifi pero nakita namin na may LAN connection sa likod ng personal ref, so tanga nila nde nila tinanggal. hahaha.

- pagdating sa hotel eh inayos ko na ang mga gamit ko kagad then went for dinner with zaheed. nde nakasama si didier 'cause it was his last night and he was invited by SC stream to have dinner with them. nagkaroon ng problema sa pag-exit nya to london. kaya un, nde natuloy ang extension nya. sad. nde nagoverlap ng matagal ang stay ko at stay nya.

- nde ko dinala ung camera ko when we went for dinner kse nahihiya pa ako. hahahaha. i had gambas with diabolo sauce and frietjes! okay the latter is fries, lamu na, dito naimbento ang french fries kaya lahat ng menu eh may fries. 2 days pa lang ako dito eh sawa na ako sa patatas! hahahaha!

- after dinner, we went back to zaheed's room para ipakita sakin un LAN connection, so un nakapagpost ako (the last one before this) kahit saglit lang.

- pagbalik sa room eh inayos ko na un susuotin ko for the next day kse nga excited ako. hahahaha. will post the pictures nun first get up ko, hahahaha!

- so un lang naman, next post na ung first day at inbev office. ;)

okay, so bukas ng gabi ang flight ko pero bukas eh onsite support ako dito sa office to work on a critical report. nasa office pa rin ako dahil kelangan ng last minute blogging and i need to back up my files. may laptop na ako sa wakas.

nakow so mukang nde ako matutulog tonight, kelangan ko pang magpedicure, ifinalize ang linchak na myperformance assessment ng interface team, magbabad ng mayo sa aking buhok at ifinalize ang luggage ko.

wish me luck guys. i'm excited and scared all at the same time.

p.s. nadiscuss na ang appraisal ko this afternoon. maganda naman ang feedback and i'm so happy na most of the feedback eh galing kay purvin. nakakatuwa ung feedback at konti lang ang areas for development which is mostly about mgt tasks which i have declined to take at work and life balance which is very obvious. so i'm feeling very positive today. thanks batman. mahal ko talaga tong lead na to.

i was talking to papable this morning about some issues on BE when he said "okay, please fix the code then gimme a call once it's done. but by 11 i gotta leave, i will get a laptop and ipod for a friend". oh eh di lalo na akong nde nakapagconcentrate sa pagcocode! hahaha.

pagkabalik eh ping kagad ang lolo mo, excited mashado. maganda raw un kulay, i was like? hello "it's pink! i thought you draw the line in pink?". anyway, he said it's "chique". so excited na talaga ako, pati daw ung ipod maganda. tapos after some time eh tumawag ulet ang lolo mo, kala ko issue related, un pala eh may problema sa laptop, there's a catch, french keyboard! AZERTY and not QWERTY! ansabi nga ni diane eh CRAZY! nagpanic ako, talagang naghanap ako ng french keyboard at sinubukan kong itype ang name ko. carry naman as long as i look away from the keyboard, otherwise i'll be lost. hahahaha. he called back the shop but unfortunately eh they don't have anything with QWERTY keyboard. ngayon eh paninindigan ko na ang pagfefrench since i can write my emails in french na din.

This has been experienced by a lucky guy:

I was a very happy man. My wonderful girlfriend and I had been

since tinataboy na ako ng mga tao dito kapag nagstay ako ng late sa office, eh nagdecide na ako na bibili na ako ng sarili kong notebook. i got 2 choices, pumunta ng singapore para lang bumili ng notebook dahil walang vaio dito sa isla na to, or kapalan ang mukha at magpabili sa mga taong maoonshore sa belgium. so mas pinili ko ung second option at mas kinapalan ko na ang mukha ko dahil sa functional counterpart ako nagpabili. hahaha!

nisend ko na ang wishlist ko yesterday, so hopefully kung available lahat eh makakarating sakin after BE go-live. so by june un pag balik nila didier, nasif and zaheed.

nde ako mashadong techy. oh well sabihin na natin na ignorante ako sa pagpili ng specs ng laptop kaya nagpatulong pa ako sa colleague ko na si fadil. so thanks bubba - i lurve it! it's pink, sassy and practical. sabi ko sa kanya gusto ko ung pinakamaliit, pero sabi nya it'll be twice the price tapos baka mahirapan pa ako magupgrade. shempre naniwala naman ako kse nga wala naman akong alam. hahahaha! sana talaga may stock na pink ung shop. sabi ni papable, meron daw pero he would look for other shops pa daw to see if may mas mura pa dun.

tapos nagpabili rin ako ng extra bat for the notebook. gaya-gaya daw ako. hehehe. para may backup.

aside dito eh sinulit ko na ang kakapalan ng mukha ko at nagpabili rin ako ng ipod touch at case. hehehe. wala nang kokontra, oo makapal ang mukha ko. hehehe.

at ang matindi pa nito eh ang i-wa-wire ko na money eh less VAT dahil charged kay papable ung VAT! hahaha. sabi ni papable, eh okay lang daw since he can refund it later and actually im doing him a favor daw since pede nya icharge sa company nya un. see! okay lang, kaya nga nilubos lubos ko na!

nag-grocery ako kanina tapos nakita ko ung johnson's baby cologne. reminds me of highschool days dahil yan ang cologne ko nun aside from bubblegum ng bench. tapos nun tiningnan ko un price, halos mabitawan ko ung cologne. ung 100ml costs Rs 110. susme! pang niconvert mo more than 150php! eh sa pinas nasa 50 pesos lang ata to.

since mejo emote at crayola mode ako this week eh i decided na i-treat naman ang sarili ko. retail therapy eto!!!! first time kong magshopping dito at ngayon lang ulet ako nagshopping for clothes after such a long time. dati kase eh lagi akong nafufrustrate dahil walang kasha. this time eh mejo madali na humanap ng size at ng kasha at bagay sakin. sa jeans lang ako nahirapan, nagfee-feeling kse ako na may magkakasha sakin na skinny jeans this time! hahahaha!

mother rhea, sabi mo mura ang clothes dito?! feeling ko ginto ang lahat, pero dahil sa nasa splurge mode ako eh, wala nang tingin tingin sa tag price, basta kasha at bagay eh dinerecho ko na sa counter. at salamat lord, may nagkasha sakin na skinny jeans kaso nde sha ung stretch type, walang kasha sakin sa stretch type. bwiset. nung nagpaulan si lord ng balakang, sinalo ko lahat! napakahirap tuloy maghanap ng pantalon.

aside sa skinny jeans eh eto mga nabili ko. ung mga nakakakilala sakin, lam nila kung panu ako magshopping, kapag may magandang design at kasha sakin at maganda ang fit, bibilhin ko lahat ng kulay! hahahaha! so sa style na to eh 5 ata ang kulay na binili ko - black, brown, white, blue at red. hahahaha! tuwang tuwa ung sales lady! hahaha! eto ung black at blue.

tapos after ng shopping, ni-treat ko rin sarili ko sa masarap na lunch. kumain ako sa spur, mexican resto ata un. i ordered a strawberry milkshake at chicken cordon bleu.
if you can see, ang onion rings nila dito, maninipis tapos crunchy. sa pinas makakapal (sa don hen diba?!). anyway, nagorder din ako ng cheddamelt burger for take-out, pangdinner ko (take-away ang term nila sa take-out dito, kakaiba.)

dumaan din ako sa cash and carry. muntikan na akong mapabili ng ipod nano at toshiba notebook. buti nalang napigilan ko sarili ko. gusto ko pa rin talaga ng vaio. unfortunately, wala nun sa munting isla na to.

so after 5 months here in mau, ngayon lang ako nagshopping at gumastos ng todo. oh mish! yan ha! nde mo na ako mashado papagalitan. hehehe. kaso nga lang, mejo namahalan talaga ako. gumastos ako ng 8k rupees na feeling ko eh sobra sobra. kung sa pinas ako mamimili ng damit, definitely, ang 13k php eh mas madame pa dito at higit na mas magaganda pa ang style. tsk. tsk. pero atleast, mejo masaya na ako ngayon. hehehe.

feeling ko bumabalik na naman ako sa dati. workaholic -- just like the good ol' augusta days. these past few weeks (errrr, months) eh panay ang OT ko. 2 weeks in a row na akong umuuwi ng 11pm. oo makakaipon ako pero panget, panget! ang masama eh willing ako sa pag-o-OT at talaga namang karir ang pagmumultitasking ng lola nyo. pagiging adik ang tawag dito, at the same time, im dying of social death. hai. ung cubemate ko dati (kse nagregodon na kame, so katabi ko na lahat ng interface team), kahit nde ko na sha cubemate eh he keeps on checking up on me. kung kelan ako uuwe, kelan dadating ang taxi ko. nakakatuwa, nakakatats. seatmates kame for 5 months at todo ang bonding namin. hai, okay so going back, un nga. at ang panget pa eh, late na ako nakakagising. around 7:30am so since kulang ako sa tulog at antokers pa eh tinatamad ako magbus at i end up taking the cab everyday which is super gastos at nde practical. tsk.tsk. kahit ngayon, nagtaxi na naman ako. bumabalik na ako sa dati na tamad maglakad at mashadong dependent sa taxi. panget! panget!

ang ganda nito noh. may kilala ako na meron gantong Audi A5 and it comes in pink din daw! gusto ko nun. kaso nun nagpaulan si lord ng pera sa pinas, eh tulog ako. nasa pinas pa lang eh pang-mau na ang body clock ko.
